ha|la|kah «HAH lah khAH, hah LAHkhah», noun, plural ha|la|koth «HAH lah khOHTH, hah LAHkhohth». Judaism.
1. a) (in rabbinical literature) usage; tradition. b) Often, Halakah. the body of traditional or oral laws of the Jews, having the force of legal custom and supplementing or interpreting the law of the Scripture, with Haggadah constituting the Talmudic and Judaic lore. The Mishnah is the basic collection of the Halakah.
2. a single tradition or law.
3. an explanation or decision by a rabbi on a matter not specifically covered by Mosaic or Talmudic law but deduced from them.
